Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) Registartion
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board was established on 7th September,1970 under the provisions of Maharashtra Prevention of Water Pollution Act,1969. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) is implementing various environmental regulations in the state of Maharashtra, mainly comprising Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, Water (Cess) Act, 1977 and some of the provisions under Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986 and the rules framed there under like, Biomedical Waste (M&H) Rules, 1998, Hazardous Waste (M&H) Rules, 2000, Municipal Solid Waste Rules, 2000 etc. MPCB is operating under the governmental control of Environment Department of Government of Maharashtra.
The entire state of Maharashtra has been announced as Air Pollution Control Area from 06/11/1996. The Board is also operating as the State Board under section 5 of the Air (P&CP) Act, 1981.
Some of the important functions of MPCB are:
- To plan complete program for the prevention, control or reduction of pollution and secure executions thereof,
- To collect and distribute information relating to pollution and the obstacles created due to the same, control, or reduction thereof,
- To inspect sewage or trade effluent treatment and disposal facilities, and air pollution control systems and to review plans, specification or any other data relating to the treatment plants, disposal systems and air pollution control systems in connection with the consent granted,
- Supporting and promoting the developments in the fields of pollution control, waste recycle reuse, eco-friendly practices etc.
- To educate and guide the industrialists, entrepreneurs, and corporates in improving environment by suggesting appropriate pollution control techniques and technologies
- Establishment of public awareness about the clean, a healthy environment and attend to the public complaints regarding pollution in any formats.
- Aim to reduce or even remove pollution in any formats in the production units and contribute towards a greener and healthier environment.
