Ingress Protection (IP) Marking
The term IP stands for international or ingress protection marking that reflects the degree of protection a product holds. It was drawn up by the International Electrochemical Commission (ICE) to help consumers select the best and quality assured product.
The IP Code reflects the degree of protection as "IP" followed by two numbers; the first digit shows the extent to which enclosures are protected against particles, and protection to others from enclosed hazards. The second digit indicates the extent of protection against water.
